CPSC Office of Import Surveillance Deputy Director Sabrina Keller will speak on a panel alongside other partner government agencies at the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America’s 51st Annual Conference, held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach. Tim Smith, Division of Human Factors, and other CPSC staff will be participating in a virtual, Webex meeting of the ASTM F15.16 Infant Feeding Supports Warnings task group on 4/15/2024 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM ET. Austin Shlick and staff will hold a meeting with the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) on Monday, April 15th from 12:30pm to 1:00pm, at AHAM’s request. Simon Lee, Jr., Division of Electrical Engineering and Fire Sciences and other staff, will be participating in a Microsoft Teams meeting with the ASTM F15.75 Subcommittee on Connected Products on April 12th, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET. This is a meeting to continue discussing recent Subcommittee discussions on artificial intelligence/machine learning and to review a recent ballot rationale for updated definitions, glossary and references. Arthur Lee and staff will be attending virtually a meeting on Supplemental Battery Power in Major Appliances for UL 858. The meeting is only virtual. MEETING CANCELED: L. Carter Bosse of the Office of Hazard Identification and Reduction, and other CPSC staff, will participate in an ASTM F15.81 subcommittee meeting for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in consumer products on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM ET. The virtual meeting will discuss the results of the second balloting period regarding the proposed standard guide for PFAS analysis in consumer products. This meeting was requested by ASTM. Joanna Matheson, Directorate for Health Sciences, and other staff will participate in the ISO TC/229 (Nanotechnologies) working group meetings via teleconference. Working Group 3 (Health, Safety and Environmental Aspects of Nanotechologies) and Working Group 5 (Products and Applications) will meet daily from April 8, 2024 to April 12, 2024. This is a hybrid meeting, with international delegates meeting at the SENAI Mario Amato in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The working groups’ meetings will focus on updates to high priority projects, that is, work items that are near publication as well as new project proposals. Scott Ayers of the Directorate for Engineering Sciences will participate in a series of virtual meeting with an ASTM F15.02 task group on rechargeable consumer lighters on the second Thursday of the month; 11am-12pm. The task group is expected to discuss requirements for rechargeable lighters, including battery-powered lighters. The meeting was organized by the ASTM F15.02 task group.
